WELCOME
Welcome to the Hungarian Church of Christ (part of International Churches of Christ – https://www.disciplestoday.org/)! We are a collection of saved sinners who are thankful for God’s grace and mercy, but who are learning more and more about the life of devotion that his grace teaches us to live. We are convinced that every aspect of life–marriage, family, friendships, work and school–are all transformed by the message of Jesus. We are family who are committed to following Jesus in the 21st Century.
What began in 1993 with a few devoted disciples of Jesus has grown into a congregation of over 100 today. Back then our mission was to courageously lead people to full devotion to Christ — with the Bible as our guide. Today our mission remains the same. We are just as committed now to helping each other lead lives devoted to Jesus, and helping people from all backgrounds develop their spiritual lives.
Regardless of where you are on your spiritual journey, we’re sure you’ll find our congregation welcoming, and our teaching inspiring and relevant to your life. Whether you’re interested in coming to one of our services, attending one of our special events or meeting with a small group of Christians in your community, we hope that you will give us the opportunity to meet you.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
We believe that God has determined the exact times and places for us to live so that we could reach out to Him and find Him, and that Jesus is the only way to come into a true relationship with God. Our teaching is centered on the life, death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. We believe that at conversion every disciple shares in Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection through their own faith, repentance, and baptism. His timeless teachings call every man and woman to follow Him.
The Bible is the standard for our lives and every member of our congregation is encouraged to be devoted to read, study, and apply the Bible to their every-day life. Although written thousands of years ago, the Scriptures are inspired by God and have tremendous relevance for our 21st-century lives.
WHAT TO EXPECT
People describe our church services as worshipful, energetic, and loving. Service typically lasts about 90 minutes and includes plenty of singing/worship, a reflective communion message, and a life-guiding Bible based sermon.
What is expected of first-time visitors?
Nothing. You are sure to meet warm, friendly people at our services, but you won’t be singled out. And don’t feel obligated to give to our weekly offering or participate in communion unless you want to. There are no expectations for you as a guest.
What should I wear?
When you come to our service you will find people wearing everything from jeans to suits. Please wear what makes you feel comfortable worshipping God. We believe you’ll feel completely welcome—whether you’re casually dressed or in your “Sunday best.”
Can I take communion?
Communion is for disciples of Jesus. Again, there is no expectation that you participate in communion as a guest.
What about my kids?
We want to make sure that both children and adults enjoy an encouraging and inspiring time each Sunday. During worship services, we offer a children’s program for infants through 6th grade, allowing parents to attend the worship service while children enjoy an age-appropriate time of learning and fun.
How do I become a member?
We believe that the church is simply a body of believers who have become true followers of Jesus. If you want to be a part of this church, the first step is to study the Bible to find out what Jesus expects of his followers. To set up a personal Bible study or to attend a group Bible study in your neighborhood, contact a member or someone near your geographic location. We meet throughout Budapest in several locations, and you can get more information by contacting someone in your area by selecting.
